Citytrips

… TO Brixen

The old cathedral town of Brixen is definitely worth a visit – whether you’re young or old! Younger visitors can enjoy the numerous play areas in the city. A particular highlight is the Christmas market on the square in front of Brixen cathedral.

… TO Bruneck

They say that the picturesque little town of Bruneck is the heart and soul of the Puster Valley. The medieval alleyways, the venerable old castle on the Schlossberg hill, the mysterious woods which surround it. There really is a lot to discover in Bruneck. In the period leading up to Christmas, the Christmas markets with atmospheric concerts and bakeries especially for children render this place really special.

… TO Sterzing

This little town of the upper Eisack valley has a special magic all of its own. The historic city centre is replete with medieval oriels and stepped gables and boasts one of Europe’s most beautiful shopping streets.

Christmas markets in winter (Brixen, Bruneck, Sterzing, Bozen, Sand in Taufers)

Each year Advent arrives with a special charm all of its own: the towns and villages are festively adorned with fairy lights and garlands of fir branches, the mountains are dusted with white snow and the people are merry and jolly. The Christmas markets are particularly charming with their little stalls and unique quirks – each one is a little bit different.

  • Brixen: culinary specialities, a steam-run carousel and special events for children
  • Bruneck: : a live nativity scene and ice-skating in the town square
  • Sand in Taufers: biscuit baking in the old Doctor’s Mansion and flying angels in the enchanted winter forest
  • Sterzing: local traditional crafts
  • Bozen: a wide variety of attractions including a play area, puppet theatre and a Christmas bakery
  • Meran: a Christmassy feeling nestled between the Passer River and the palm trees
