When the first snowflakes dance outside the windows, all signs point to fun on the slopes and in the snow here at the Alpenhof. Let’s get on our skis, slide plates and toboggans and head off to the Gitschberg-Jochtal skiing area for families, just two minutes away by shuttle, with its 55 kilometres of slopes, natural toboggan run and brisk winter hiking tours for the whole family. Sounds great, don’t you think?

All you need: a ski pass & a slope map!

If you want to ski in the Gitschberg Jochtal Ski & Alpine Pasture Region, you need a ski pass – whether it’s for one day or several! Here you can find out how much each one costs in each period. Now nothing will stand in the way of your winter sports fun!

Taxi, please! Off to the ski resort!

Leave your car behind! But not to traipse to the Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area or the ski lessons at the practice lift on foot – we will take you there with our free ski shuttle. A bonus for parents: the children’s ski taxi will drop off and pick up your kids, after which we will take them back to the hotel where our childminders will be waiting.

The right technique – made easy

Learning to ski will be easy for the little ones, especially when they meet the friendly, certified ski instructors who teach the ski course for children. The highly trained instructors from the Gitschberg ski school are real pros, and the slopes at the Pobis lift, only 200m away, are the ideal place to learn! By the way: at the Alpenhof, the ski pros are personally on hand to answer your questions on Saturdays, and you can register for your ski course on the spot.

A winter family holiday means you have likely packed a lot, with the boot stuffed to the brim. Why not opt for the stress-free way to start your holiday? Rent all the necessary ski equipment for you and your little piste champions directly from one of the ski rental services in the Gitschberg-Jochtal Ski & Alpine Region.

One room for all your needs!

Where to put your bicycles, skis, etc.? In our storage depot! In summer, you can safely park and charge your mountain bikes and e-bikes; in winter, it turns into a modern, heated ski cellar with locking storage units for every family, as well as ski boot dryers and a facility for ski waxing.

Curving fun on the toboggan run

Family tobogganing together

An idyllic fast-paced ride – that‘s what a fun toboggan run in Meransen is all about! The particularly family-friendly, almost 7km long “Brimi-Winter-Run” toboggan run starts at the Gitschberg mountain station and can be easily reached by cable car. And all those who want to experience a pure natural idyll are advised to plan a tobogganing excursion to the Schillingpiste and Rodeneck toboggan runs.

Hiking again? Yes, in the snow!

Hiking is not always a child’s idea of fun – but in Meransen and the surrounding area, it is always enjoyable, even in winter! In the white winter season, there are plenty of great hiking trails that are easy to master with good shoes, snowshoes and even with a pram. And when interspersed with snowball fights and making snow angels, winter hiking becomes an unforgettable adventure – that’s a promise!

A carriage ride through the snow

How romantic! In the enchanting, snow-covered Meransen, you can take a fairytale horse-drawn carriage ride! Wrapped in thick wool blankets, the children's rosy cheeks, the jingling of the horse bells and the gentle crunching of hooves in the fresh snow make this pure heaven. Father Christmas certainly knows the best way to travel!
