A summer mountain experience... Together!

As if it weren’t already enough of a treat to take a family holiday in Meransen, we also offer the Almencard adventure card, which includes lots of activity perks. A summer in the mountains of the Gitschberg-Jochtal Alpine pasture region does not only mean hiking, looking for pine cones and counting squirrels. Here adventure rules the roost! Three exciting family parks promise carefree outings and lots of exercise. While the kids hop from adventure to adventure, mum and dad can relax with a view of the mountains and watch their little darlings eagerly exploring the various attractions.

First, pack your rucksack, lace up your hiking boots and set a tempting, not-too-distant goal. Then march off cheerfully: past colourful flowering Alpine meadows, small mountain lakes and babbling brooks. A hat, a stick, maybe an umbrella... and before you know it, you’ve reached the next Alpine hut. Hiking around Meransen is fun – you can even access many places with a pram!

Do you know how to turn young hikers into real mountain fans? Visit our very own Alpine pasture! There we serve Kaiserschmarrn (a torn pancake dish) for everyone, and you can have a stick race down by the stream or test your strength in a rope pull. Our Jochtal hike is also a very special experience – right up to the summit! The proudly gleaming eyes of the children, once they reach the summit cross, are a priceless treat!

For marmots and true mountain enthusiasts, no summit is too high, no climb too steep and no mountain path too stony. And the more effort you have to put in to reach your goal, the nicer it is, in the end, to stand at the very top of the peak and gaze into the distance! Well-informed, with the right equipment and the necessary know-how, mountain tours in the high mountains are also possible with children who are capable of hiking.

Did you bring your bike on holiday? Good call! We have the ultimate tour tip for you: take the Pustertal cycle path, which is just right for little cyclists because there are no notable climbs. Extra tip: take the cable car to Mühlbach, rent bikes there and pedal hard along the cycle path. Then back to Mühlbach by train – or back by bike, if you can manage it! By the way: we also have mountain bikes, trailers and e-bikes for you to rent. Pretty convenient, wouldn’t you say?

Where to put your bicycles, skis, etc.? In our storage depot! In summer, you can safely park and charge your mountain bikes and e-bikes; in winter, it turns into a modern, heated ski cellar with locking storage units for every family, as well as ski boot dryers and a facility for ski waxing.

Have you ever watched squirrels as they hop through the trees? You may not be quite as agile, but you can still prove your climbing skills high up in the trees on the KronAction high ropes course in Pfalzen/Issing. Equipped with a helmet, harness and via ferrata set, after a training session on safe ground, you’re off to lofty heights in no time at all. With over 100 stations, the park is the largest of South Tyrol’s high ropes courses.

It takes a fair amount of courage and swimming ability to try rafting and canyoning in the thundering streams and rivers of the Pustertal valley. But it’s worth it – and with expert guidance, this special experience is also open to children. Four clubs (Club Aktiv Pustertal, Rivertours Gais, KreativRaft Pfalzen and Yeti Adventures Bruneck) offer guided tours at various levels of difficulty in the rivers Ahr and Rienz. Are you up for it?

Do you fancy a game of mini-golf? It’s going to be a blast at the mini golf course in Meransen! From mid-June to the beginning of September, precision, skill and mathematical thinking are in demand here. How many strokes will it take you to get the ball into the hole? Are you ready “fore” the challenge?

Happiness can also be found behind the horse, for example, when being driven around in a carriage! If you love horses, choose a riding stable or pony farm in Brixen, Sterzing, Terenten, Pfalzen or Reischach and let the wind blow through your hair on a ride or a carriage ride.

Splashing around in the Alpenhof pool is great fun – but jumping into one of the popular natural swimming lakes and ponds in the area is just as much fun! The Issinger Weiher can be reached in about half an hour by car. And the natural swimming pond in Lüsen is an idyllic mountain lake with a water slide and adjacent sunbathing lawn and can be reached in about 45 minutes. Ready for some natural aquatic fun?
