Tips in Maranza
A must for every South Tyrol holiday is Fanes Pasture, the panoramic platform with a view of over 500 mountain summits.

The Gilfenklamm Gorge (near Vipiteno)
(approx. 35 km from our house). An impressive hike (starting in May) through natural scenery. It‘s the only such geological formation worldwide which has been cut into pure white marble. Starting point: Stanghe (either going up or down from the Jaufen cable-supported staircase). Walking time: approx. 1 hour.

Farmers culture in the Fundres Valley and in Teodone
Adventure farms await you in Fundres. According to the ADAC-Atlas one of the most beautiful outdoor museums in Europe: Museum of Ethnography in Teodone. Also here you can get an insight into farming culture and traditions.

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle (near Merano)
(approx. 80 km from Maranza). Breathtaking views of exotic Mediterranean landscapes, panoramas of the surrounding mountain chains and the sunny town of Merano: The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle comprise more than 80 garden landscapes under ideal climatic conditions. After seven years of construction, they were opened to the public in June of 2001. Now you can explore this work of art in all its glory - in 2005, the 30-acre gardens were voted the most-beautiful gardens in Italy.
Pine Oil Distillery (near Brunico) (approx. 28 km from our house). You can actually witness how ethereal oils are distilled using time-honoured methods. And you can view the herbal garden which is kept according to certified organic techniques, including consideration of the lunar calendar according to M.Thun. It‘s definitely worth the trip! Here, you‘ll find more than 70 different therapeutic plants and kitchen herbs, labelled with their specific applications.

The Pyramids and the Mills are located in Terento (approx. 25 km from our house).

The markets are held in the morning till about 1 p.m. You can find clothing, leather goods, fruits, and vegetables there.
